The eye of the forest
The Sateré-Mawé people from the Amazon forest were the ones who discovered native Guaraná fruit – a potent stimulant that has been used for decades in beverages in Brazil. The fruit is sacred to them: it is said to be the eye of the forest and the mother of all Sateré-Mawés. In recent years, they have moved from simply collecting the fruit that grows naturally in the forest to cultivating it; as a result, they now sell the Guaraná everywhere, including Europe and the US.
