Parijotho, valuable forest plants
Parijotho (Medinella javanensis) is a forest plant endemic to the Muria Mountains (Central Java). Parijotho grows well and produces abundant fruit under the dense forest trees. This purplish-blue fruit with a sour taste can be processed into various products with economic value such as syrup and jelly. Because of its high economic value, parijotho is currently widely cultivated. Mbah Karyo is one of the farmers who has succeeded in cultivating parijotho in the forest area owned by Perhutani in the Colo Village area.
